Three hundred and fifty thousand school children in Chicago face a second week off school after a teachers union voted to extend a week-long strike by at least two more days. Chicago’s Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, has said he will seek a court injunction to declare the strike illegal.
The decision by union leaders to extend their consultation period over a deal reached with the city at the weekend, has escalated a political battle with Chicago’s mayor. Rahm Emanuel vowed to end what he called an illegal strike(…).
